Lake Hopatcong Foundation Environmental & Cultural Center
TheLake Hopatcong Foundation Environmental & Cultural Center is housed within the former Lake Hopatcong Station, one of the most iconic buildings in our community. The more than 100-year-old station links us with the era when the lake was a great northeast resort and thousands arrived by train weekly headed for their hotel, campsite, or cottage. The building, located at 125 Landing Road, Landing, has lasting meaning for many lake residents, past and present, and has long been a central part of the history of the lake.
The purchase of the historical station, in the fall of 2014, turned the page on an exciting new chapter for the Lake Hopatcong Foundation and the entire lake region. After a multi-year restoration project, the station now serves as the home of the Lake Hopatcong Foundation as well as the Environmental & Cultural Center, hosting meetings and community programming. The completion of the project, thus far, is a testament to the strong support from Morris County, the State of New Jersey, a host of private grants, the very generous donation of services and supplies by local craftsmen and vendors, and the generosity of so many within the Lake Hopatcong community.
